This series started accidentally, while I was archiving my film scans and the theme became clear to me. In 2011 as a junior in college, I purchased a moving box full of expired film from a Mennonite surplus store in Horse Cave, Ky. I used the film for fun, taking it places I wouldn’t normally bring my heavy and expensive camera. I took photos of my friends, of strangers, of the landscape where I stood, of what I didn’t want to forget. Like the Simon & Garfunkel song “Bookends,” for which they’re name, I want to preserve my memories - the camera as proof.
